Camiguin's Best (Part 2/4)

Our day 2 is off to an early start, because we had to leave at 2am so we can catch the barge/boat ride at 4am headed to Camiguin!

Camiguin is about 2-hour land travel and 1 1/2 hour boat ride from the city :)

We initially thought of going backpacking for this trip, but later on realized that getting La Montana Tours and Vans was probably the best decision we made because the places are so far from each other. Plus, just riding a van without fear of getting lost allowed us to recharge and catch up on sleep so that when we get to our destination, we're pumped up with happy energy to appreciate the place more :)

Just last week, Manila was shaken by an earthquake. I was lying in bed watching Grimm that night, when I felt my bed shaken for a good two seconds! What was thaaat??? Later on, I found out that it was just an earthquake. People of Camiguin get that a lot -- because of its small area, it becomes highly at risk to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Our next three stops are testament to that.

Old Church Ruins

Our First Stop in Camiguin: The Old Church Ruins. In 1871, the eruption of the Mt. Vulcan took hundreds of lives of the people of Catarman (one of Camiguin's municipalities). It was said that the rich and privileged people in the town rushed to the church to seek refuge. Ironically, the church, despite its strong foundation was shaken to the core by the eruption, and wasn't able to protect the townspeople. The result? The town was destroyed, only leaving the old church, convent and bell tower at its wake.

Underwater Cemetery
Second Stop: Underwater Cemetery. If UP has a sunken garden, Camiguin has an underwater cemetery! :)) Haha! Mai-connect lang! ;) The interesting about this cemetery is that you can opt to go snorkeling if you're  that brave :) Although there's also a boat that you can rent if you want to get up close to the cemetery as possible. This cemetery was also because of the Mt. Vulcan which sunk the cemetery below sea level during its eruption period in 1871-1875.

Walkway to the Old Volcano
This third stop is more than just a walkway because it's a walkway leading up to 15 stations of the cross. Camiguin has many churches so it's no wonder that many of the tourist spots they hold dear has religious inclinations.

I actually wanted to see all stations but stopped at second. How pathetic, I know! Haha! It got a little eerie walking on my own. It was the only time I hoped there were more tourists at that time because it's a mountain so as you go further up, it gets quieter and quieter. I'm such a scaredy cat!! :( Anyway, the walkway prized itself to showing the tourists such a beautiful view when you reach the very top, making all the sweat worth it. So if you're young, it's highly recommended that you push yourself to the top! Go go go!

Katibawasan Falls

From volcanoes, to churches to walkways, let's now go to another natural wonder :) When we got here at Katibawasan falls, we're just so excited that we had to take a dip in its icy waters :) Plus, the water is clear that we can see our feet beneath it especially when the sunlight comes streaming down. Refreshing forever ang tubig ng falls. :)

Minutes later, a much happier surprise happened because minutes after we took a dip, the rainbow showed up right where the water of the falls drops (see bottom left photo!) it was something straight from a movie! It's been awhile since I last saw a rainbow! Thank you, Lord! That was the highlight of my day. Wheeee!

Soda Swimming Pool
After the trip to the falls, we went to the Soda Swimming Pool. And yes, it is the literal soda (commonly called as coke, 7up, royal). According to kuya, it's what you get after you let out the spirit of the soft drinks. And look! It has health benefits according to the signage inside! "Studies show that soda water reduces osteoporosis, decreases cardiovascular disease risk and lowers blood pressure." Odiba bongga si soda swimming pool!!! They have two pools here, the small kiddie one which is about 4 feet deep, and the bigger one for adults which goes as deep as 6 feet. :)

Ardent Hot Springs
After the pool, it was already raining pretty hard. So we decided to go straight to Ardent Hot Springs to keep our teeth from chattering from the cold. Temp of this hot spring is from 35 to 38 degree celsius. :) We stayed for hours at this natural wonder because the rain wouldn't let up. Although come to think of it, hot spring on a rainy day is the way to go, just imagine if we went here during summer? Lol! So not cool.

Sorry, I wasn't able to snap as many photos of the spring because it was getting quite chilly at that time that all I wanted was to submerge myself in the hot spring. :)

But wait... the beauty of Camiguin doesn't end there, more on Camiguin on the next post! :) Two lovely restaurants and an island sandbar await!!

Passionately Curious

Here is the post I wrote years ago! I echoed here what I learned from the 2 speakers, Tricia Gosingtian and Ana Santos. Tricia is a fashion blogger, so there's a part of the event in which we all had to pick out and model the outfits from Bayo then Tricia picked out winners from the attendees. So the event started with that then went into the specifics of fashion blogging then writing in general. :) Hope you'll pick up a few writing nuggets! Happy reading and writing!

It's Perfectly Fine Not to Say Anything

Last weekend, we went to this Starbucks branch in Tagaytay and it was really lovely. It was situated below a steep driveway, and unless you know where to look, it would be quite easy to miss. But it's a spacious lot -- with glass doors, paintings, couches, benches and wooden architecture -- it may just be my favorite Starbucks by far.

Ligawan Stage So this is the part where Dennis already laid down his intentions, and I said yes to courtship.  I’ll share here the things we learned and what God taught us during this season. Hope this encourages you! Dennis told me to share his insecurities in this blog because he thought that it would encourage the men out there. Some of his insecurities were:
