Kitchen Newbie Right Here

Since our wedding is just around the corner, the call to being a domesticated wife is beckoning. Just so you have an idea on how totally clueless I am in the kitchen, I had to google this just the other day: "clove of garlic" --because I didn't know whether the clove meant just the small piece of a garlic or the whole thing (so apparently it's just the small piece). Kawawa diba? :P

So since I want to be able to whip up a few dishes for Dennis and our future family (nukkks!), I have been trying to cook a few dishes here and there.

Sabi naman nila, you learn the skills along the way but it's really your body that needs to be prepped. Like if you're used to just relaxing when you come home from work, then cooking your way to adobo after work then washing the dishes then possibly needing to pick up the laundry before you can finally relax may need adjusting to.

So for a newbie like me, I am trying to ease my way into the married life. So I was excited when I was handed 3 bottles of Done Elena olive oil to tickle my gustatory imagination with the recipes I can try with it.

We don't really use olive oil at home because it is more expensive than the regular cooking oil. But when I learned its benefits (it lowers cholesterol and protects the body from free radical damage), I think I will switch to this in my new home!

Back to the recipe: here it is! Presenting this Asian Fusion Aglio Oglio made with Doña Elena extra virgin olive oil which is based from this recipe. I made a short video on how to cook this baby:

Ingredients:
  • 300g cooked spaghetti
  • 400g chicken breast, sliced
  • 200g button mushrooms, sliced
  • 20 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 green bellpepper, sliced and cut into small pieces
  • 100ml Doña Elena extra virgin olive oil
  • 15 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 sili, sliced
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Parmesan cheese

Instructions:
  1. Prepare spaghetti by boiling it in hot water mixed with a touch of olive oil and salt so it doesn’t stick together later on.
  2. Slice the chicken breasts, veggies and set aside all other ingredients.
  3. Heat a non-stick wok at medium high. Add olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add in garlic and cili padi. Stir-fry for a min or two.
  4. Add in chicken breasts and let it cook for 8-10 mins.
  5. Toss in all veggies and mix it up with the chicken and garlic oil mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Finally toss in cooked spaghetti and mix it all up together until it’s well coated with the rest of the ingredients.

Easy, right? I have 2 more bottles of olive oil at home. Hmm what else can I make with these lovelies? :)

PS. Apparently, Doña Elena's Facebook page has the answers. Yahooo! You may also buy their olive oil at leading supermarket and grocery stores nationwide.

Passionately Curious

Here is the post I wrote years ago! I echoed here what I learned from the 2 speakers, Tricia Gosingtian and Ana Santos. Tricia is a fashion blogger, so there's a part of the event in which we all had to pick out and model the outfits from Bayo then Tricia picked out winners from the attendees. So the event started with that then went into the specifics of fashion blogging then writing in general. :) Hope you'll pick up a few writing nuggets! Happy reading and writing!

It's Perfectly Fine Not to Say Anything

Last weekend, we went to this Starbucks branch in Tagaytay and it was really lovely. It was situated below a steep driveway, and unless you know where to look, it would be quite easy to miss. But it's a spacious lot -- with glass doors, paintings, couches, benches and wooden architecture -- it may just be my favorite Starbucks by far.

He says, She says (Part 3)

Ligawan Stage So this is the part where Dennis already laid down his intentions, and I said yes to courtship.  I’ll share here the things we learned and what God taught us during this season. Hope this encourages you! Dennis told me to share his insecurities in this blog because he thought that it would encourage the men out there. Some of his insecurities were:
