The Woman with 5 Husbands

Woke up this morning with a bad case of cold so this is like an involuntary free day for me at work.

Sunday mornings are great, but Monday mornings mean that I get to have the  house all to myself, so I can read and write peacefully. Whoopie!

It also means that I get to have my morning devotion and catch up on those days when I did nothing but to just skim through the verses. My devotion today was refreshing and revealing. It revealed that I have a tendency to lose faith for the people around me.

I have friends who are yet to know Christ and it is my hope that they will personally experience God's grace and be transformed by it... But years passed, and I find myself face to face with them and I realize with sadness that nothing has changed. In fact, they seemed to be more lost and broken... :(

But God has reminded me that nothing is impossible with Him through the story of the Samaritan woman (John 4:1-26 ) who has 5 husbands! Five!!!

This woman undoubtedly had questionable decisions and character, and yet Jesus called her and she responded... and she was changed forever.

I am amazed on how Jesus can look to someone so broken and still desire to have a relationship with that person... Minsan mas judgmental pa ako kay Jesus! But then I look unto myself and there are days when my mind would be filled with impure thoughts and I don't exactly have the best track record for making God-led decisions, and yet, He accepts and loves me just the same...

I am no different.

It is during these times that God is dealing with my lack of faith, pride and self-righteousness. :(

But our God is an amazing God whose grace I just couldn't understand... it's beyond human comprehension, it's illogical, and it is only by this grace that anyone can make a 180 degree turn of his life, including mine!

So my prayer is for Jesus to help me increase my faith in Him, that He who began a good work in me can also work in the hearts of my friends...the God who called me and who is continuously changing my stubborn and sinful heart is the same God who can call them to Him.

6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 4:1-26

Throwback Thursday! Words edition :) I wrote this post almost two years ago, I've had 3 blogs for the past four years so my ramblings and thoughts have been tucked away in three different places in the digital space. Reminds me of Voldemort and how he hid his soul to 7 different objects. Nerd alert! Hehe! So here it is, my realizations as far as marrying is concerned, when I was 23 years old:
